Roadrunners Spring Classic
About the Tournament
The Roadrunners play weekly ball hockey throughout the year and are passionate about good, hard, clean hockey. In 2015 this passion led to the creation of the Roadrunners Summer Classic, an annual adult 3-on-3 ball hockey tournament where cleanliness of play is held in the highest regard.
What do tournament champions receive? Nothing! We believe a weekend of great hockey to be its own reward, with year-long bragging rights serving as a nice bit of icing on the cake. It has also been our experience that rewarding winning with cash or other prizes only serves to incentivise chippy play, and thus opposes our tournament vision.
Where does the money go? Back into the tournament! The Roadrunners Summer Classic is strictly not for profit, with tournament organizers volunteering many hours to keep the dream alive and thriving. Any excess tournament funds are put towards improving the tournament in subsequent years. To date this has included complimentary tournament t-shirts, better quality balls, equipment to run an annual skills competition, and complimentary tournament entry the team voted "Most Sportsmanlike". As the Roadrunners Spring Classic continues to grow, we will continue to find ways to improve the tournament.
